Paul Sides, Rav Sha’ul, Translation Of Galatians 2

This Rav Sha’ul Exposed study is about Paul Sides’ Bible translation of the book of Galatians, chapter 2.

Before we start, you need to understand what Rav Sha’ul is proclaiming with the false concept of the Yahushaic Covenant. Obviously, this is just a summary:

Paul Sides teaches that Yahusha was 100% man, because his biological father was Joseph. He teaches that Yahusha sinned and need to be baptized by John for remission of sins. He teaches that just like Elohim made covenants with men like Abraham and Moses, Yahuah made a covenant with Yahusha.  He teaches that after Messiah became perfected and lived a sinless life as a priest, and died to Himself on the cross, that He was then made divine.

You can see Biblical proof that Paul Sides claims about Messiah are false in this study: Paul Sides Is A False Teacher

So given Paul Sides teachings, we need to look at how he changes the intent and context of Scripture, to remove Messiah from His rightly place; as the Father’s first-born creation, thus He is deity, as the co-Creator, and as the spotless Lamb of Elohim.

For each verse of his version I will provide the matching verse from the ISR 98, which is a literal word for word translation, and I will provide comments when needed. The main point is to help you see how many words he has added to the Greek text..

The ISR 98 matches the names of the Father and Son that Paul Sides is using, that of Yahuah the Father, and Yahusha the Son.

1 Then, during those fourteen years, I repeatedly went up to Yerusalem to keep the Feasts with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me.

“Then after fourteen years I again went up to Yerushalayim, with Barnaḇah, taking Titus along too.” ISR 98

The occasion of this journey is explained in Acts 15:1-2. It was to advise with the apostles and elders, about the necessity of circumcision; some that came from Judea having taught the disciples at Antioch, that except they were circumcised they could not be saved. (Matthew Poole’s Commentary on the Holy Bible). That explanation is contrary to what Paul Sides teaches about circumcision, so he changed it to seem like it was for the feast days.

2 And I went up by revelation; facts and truths were uncovered and unveiled, and I put before them that message ‘to keep the Law with a loving intent’ which I preach among the Gentiles. However, I presented the matter of ‘physical circumcision of the Lost Sheep coming out of the nations’, privately, to those of repute, to make sure the course I was running, or had already run to circumcise their hearts, foremost, through the Law, would be allowed.

And I went up by revelation, and laid before them that Good News which I proclaim among the gentiles, but separately to those who were esteemed, lest somehow I run, or had run, in vain”. ISR 98

The Apostle Paul said nothing about circumcision in this verse, bet Paul Sides inserted it.

3 Among those of repute, I argued that those with a heart for His Law would naturally desire to be physically circumcised, for did not even Titus who was with me, although he is a Greek, feel compelled to be circumcised? But the Pharisees intervened claiming physical circumcision was required to be saved as to oppose the Lost Sheep (who had come to have a heart for His Law as prophesied).

But not even Titus who was with me, though a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.” ISR98

Paul added 54 words to this short verse, as he used 70 words, while the ISR98 word for word translation used 16.

4 We opposed this intervention, by false brothers, who secretly smuggled in to spy on our liberty ‘to lead the Lost Sheep into the faith first by circumcising their hearts’, Liberty which we have in The Yahushaic Covenant. These Pharisees, who reject the undeserved pardon of the Messiah, were trying to bring us back into bondage of obedience out of fear of death. This would create enmity toward the Law in those I was trying to reach.

But as for the false brothers, sneakingly brought in, who sneaked in to spy out our freedom which we have in Messiah יהושע Yahusha in order to enslave us,” ISR98

Here Paul Sides inserts his heretical Yahushaic Covenant theology, which declares that Messiah was 100% man, not diety; that He sinned, and that He needed to become perfect.

5 We did not yield to these false brothers in submission even for a moment, in order that the truth of the message ‘that in The Yahushaic Covenant obedience to the Law is defined by “intent” not “the letter”’ might remain the same with you and we would all be one accord in our presentation.

to these we did not yield in subjection, not even for an hour, so that the truth of the Good News remains with you.” ISR98

Again he inserts his heretical Yahushaic Covenant theology.

6 I presented, in a conference, this message of loving obedience to the intent of the Law to those in authority (whoever they were, it made no difference to me; Yahuah is no respecter of the person of any man), after hearing this message, they did not require anything additional of me as the Pharisees and false brothers did. The leaders in the called out assembly did not require physical circumcision and agreed with my message of loving intent.

But from those who were esteemed to be whatever – what they were, it makes no difference to me, Elohim shows no partiality – for those who were esteemed contributed naught to me.” ISR98

That is a lot of words that have been added to the text.

7 But on the contrary, upon hearing my message, they then realized that the message to the uncircumcised (Gentiles) was committed to me, just as the message to the circumcised (Yahdiam) was committed to Kepha.

But on the contrary, when they saw that the Good News to the uncircumcised had been entrusted to me, even as Kĕpha to the circumcised” ISR98

8 For He Who was at work in Kepha to the ministry of the circumcision; Yahdaim, was also at work in me to the Gentiles.

– for He who worked in Kĕpha to make him an emissary to the circumcised also worked in me for the gentiles.” ISR98

Why would he capitalize the word Gentiles, as it’s not a personal name or title of deity?

9 And understanding the blessing given to me, Yaaqob, Kepha, and Yahchanan, who seemed to be the pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; in order that we should go to the Gentiles with the message that ‘The Law had been written on their hearts’, but they to the circumcision (Yahdaim) with the message that ‘the death decrees in The Law had been covered by the blood of the Lamb’, Yahusha the Messiah our King.

So when Yaʽaqoḇ, Kĕpha, and Yoḥanan, who seemed to be supports, came to know the favour that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnaḇah the right hand of fellowship, in order that we go to the gentiles and they to the circumcised,

10 Only they stipulated that we should remember the poor, the same which I also was eager to do.

“only that we might remember the poor, which I myself was eager to do.” ISR98

11 However, when Kepha came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face because he was acting hypocritical.

And when Kĕpha had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was at fault.” ISR98

12 For before certain men came to Yaaqob, he would eat with the Gentile converts; but when the Yahdiam came, he drew back and separated himself from the Gentiles, being afraid of those of the circumcision (Yahdiam) that they might accuse them of “eating meat sacrificed to an idol” as they have accused me.

“For before some came from Yaʽaqoḇ, he was eating with the gentiles, but when they came, he began to withdraw and separate himself, in fear of those of the circumcision.” ISR98

Though he is referencing other verses in regard to eating meat sacrificed to an idol, it is still adding words that are not in the Greek text.

13 And the other called out Yahdaim, also behaved like hypocrites in the same way fearing self-righteous condemnation; with the result that Barnabas was also carried away with their hypocrisy.

And the rest of the Yehuḏim joined him in hypocrisy, so that even Barnaḇah was led away by their hypocrisy.” ISR98

14 But when I saw that they did not walk uprightly according to the truth of the message that ‘they had liberty in The Yahushaic Covenant and could eat with Gentiles’, I said to Kepha in front of all of them: “If you, a Yahdai, start to live after the manner of the Gentiles and not after the manner of the Yahdaim, how can you compel the Gentiles to live as do the Yahdaim?” I told him to his face… practice what you preach because he was destroying my witness to the Lost Sheep among the Gentiles!

But when I saw that they are not walking straight according to the truth of the Good News, I said to Kĕpha before them all, “If you, being a Yehuḏite, live as a gentile and not as the Yehuḏim, why do you compel gentiles to live as Yehuḏim?” ISR98

Once again he promotes His Yahushaic Covenant theology.

15 We who are Yahdaim by nature, and not sinners among the Gentiles

We, Yehuḏim by nature, and not of the gentiles, sinners,” ISR98

16 Know that a man is not justified from among the works of the Law alone; if there is no faith through Yahusha Messiah. For we in The Yahushaic Covenant have this trust: That we will be justified through the faith in Yahusha, and not through works of the Law only, because through works of the Law alone, all flesh will not be justified.

“knowing that a man is not declared right by works of Torah, but through belief in יהושע Yahusha Messiah, even we have believed in Messiah יהושע, in order to be declared right by belief in Messiah and not by works of Torah, because by works of Torah no flesh shall be declared right.” ISR98

He twisted the text to make it seem like we are saved by belief in the supposed Yahushaic Covenant, rather than by belief in Yahusha Messiah.

17 But if, while we seek to be justified in covenant with the Messiah, we ourselves are discovered to be sinners because the Law helps us identify sin, that is why we keep it. But just because we continue to keep the Law, does that mean that Messiah promotes sin? By no means! We are made whole in keeping the Law by our faith in The Yahushaic Covenant and all righteousness is fulfilled in us through Mikveh like it was Yahusha the Messiah.

And if, while seeking to be declared right by Messiah, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Messiah then a servant of sin? Let it not be!” ISR98

Here he is promoting salvation by baptism (Mikveh) while the text mentions nothing about baptism; or the supposed Yahushaic Covenant.

18 For if, with the things I have destroyed by abolishing the Law, with these things, teaching the Law is abolished, I again build The House of Yahuah, I have placed myself with the transgressors because sin is breaking The Law.

For if I rebuild what I once overthrew, I establish myself a transgressor” ISR98

19 For through the promise of the Passover Lamb in the Law, I avoided the death penalty of the Law being in covenant with Yahusha. The certificate of debt consisting of death decrees has been paid, in order that I might live a new life for Yahuah after following The Way of Mikveh, Circumcision, and Offering.

For through Torah I died to Torah, in order to live to Elohim.” ISR98

One again he is promoting his false message of salvation by baptism, circumcision and offering oneself as the living sacrifice; so that we can become divine, as a god, like he proclaimed that Yahusha did.

20 Like Messiah who set the example of Mikveh, Circumcision, and Offering on Passover, I have been sacrificed too, as a Passover Lamb, by following his example; and now it is no longer I who lives, but Messiah lives in covenant with me (we are one through Marriage Covenant). And what I now live in the flesh in obedience to The Spiritual Intent of The Law, I live by the faith in covenant with the Son of Yahuah, Who loved me and gave Himself for me as The Passover Lamb, demonstrating the greatest love by dying for his brothers to show them The Way.

I have been impaled with Messiah, and I no longer live, but Messiah lives in me. And that which I now live in the flesh I live by belief in the Son of Elohim, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” ISR98

The Apostle Paul is not talking about baptism or circumcision.  ‘The Way’ means his false message of salvation by baptism, circumcision and offering oneself as the living sacrifice.

21 I do not reject the merciful pardon of Yahuah by abolishing His Law, where all His promises are made; though no doubt through obedience to the Law comes righteousness. Truly Messiah was sacrificed to reconcile all men to Yahuah in this way. HalleluYahuah!

I do not set aside the favour of Elohim, for if righteousness is through Torah, then Messiah died for naught.” ISR98
