Paul Sides, Rav Sha’ul, Translation Of Galatians 5

This Rav Sha’ul Exposed study is about Paul Sides’ Bible translation of the book of Galatians, chapter 5.

Before we start, you need to understand what Rav Sha’ul is proclaiming with the false concept of the Yahushaic Covenant. Obviously, this is just a summary:

Paul Sides teaches that Yahusha was 100% man, because his biological father was Joseph. He teaches that Yahusha sinned and need to be baptized by John for remission of sins. He teaches that just like Elohim made covenants with men like Abraham and Moses, Yahuah made a covenant with Yahusha.  He teaches that after Messiah became perfected and lived a sinless life as a priest, and died to Himself on the cross, that He was then made divine.

You can see Biblical proof that Paul Sides claims about Messiah are false in this study: Paul Sides Is A False Teacher

So given Paul Sides teachings, we need to look at how he changes the intent and context of Scripture, to remove Messiah from His rightly place; as the Father’s first-born creation, thus He is deity, as the co-Creator, and as the spotless Lamb of Elohim.

For each verse of his version I will provide the matching verse from the ISR 98, which is a literal word for word translation, and I will provide comments when needed. The main point is to help you see how many words he has added to the Greek text..

The ISR 98 matches the names of the Father and Son that Paul Sides is using, that of Yahuah the Father, and Yahusha the Son.

Both physical and spiritual circumcision is a commitment to keep The Law of Yahuah

1 Therefore, stand fast in the liberty to keep The Law out of love, as the Messiah has set us free from the death decrees, and do not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage to sin and ritualistic obedience to The Law out of fear of death.

In the freedom with which Messiah has made us free, stand firm, then, and do not again be held with a yoke of slavery.” ISR 98

2 Behold, I Sha’ul, testify to you; that if you let your heart be circumcised, will this not benefit you as a saint?

See, I, Sha’ul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Messiah shall be of no use to you.” ISR 98

The Apostle Paul is not talking about the circumcision of the heart, but physical circumcision.

3 And I testify again to every man who lets his heart be circumcised: this is your promise to keep the whole Law out of loving intent, that is the meaning of circumcision.

And I witness again to every man being circumcised that he is a debtor to do the entire Torah.” ISR 98

There is no reference to ‘heart’ in the Scriptural text. Paul Sides is changing the meaning from a focus on physical circumcision to spiritual.

4 You, who by keeping The Law, were once justified by the undeserved pardon by the Messiah, but if you have abolished this pardon yourselves by abolishing The Law in your heart –you are fallen and now Lawless!

You who are declared right by Torah have severed yourselves from Messiah, you have fallen from favour.” ISR 98

5 For we, in the Spirit, have eagerly awaited this hope of righteousness fulfilled in Yahusha the Passover Lamb, in which the Righteous Requirements of The Law are fulfilled in us through the faith which establishes The Law in our heart.

For we, in Spirit, by belief, eagerly wait for the expectation of righteousness.” ISR 98

6 Truly, when it comes to being a saint neither being a Yahdai nor being a Gentile prevails–only the faith, which establishes The Law, which is effective through love; as we keep The Law out of love not obligation. The keeping of Yahuah’s Laws, will prevail in us who have been given The Spirit of Truth within us. But through the undeserved pardon, we will have comfort being free from the death decrees. Obedience, then, is out of love not fear.

For in Messiah יהושע neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any strength, but belief working through love.” ISR 98

Paul Sides used 81 words for what the ISR 98 took 16 words to explain, but he ignored that the Apostle Paul is saying that circumcision is of no value, which is the main point.

All should obey the truth of The Torah

7 You were running well in obedience. Who persuaded you not to obey the truth of The Torah? ..

You were running well, who held you back from obeying the truth?” ISR 98

8 This persuasion to deny The Law did not come from Him; Yahuah, who called you because His Spirit teaches you to keep His Law and obey His Commandments.

That persuasion does not come from Him who calls you.” ISR 98

9 A little leaven; sin, leavens the whole batch of dough as we are to keep the whole Law not just pick and choose.

A little leaven leavens all the lump.” ISR 98

The irony is that Paul Sides added the ‘not just pick and choose‘ part to the verse, but he and Stephanie do exactly that; as they have tattoos, they eat shellfish and pork, work on the Sabbath, etc.

10 I have confidence in you through Yahuah, that you will consider nothing else but that we are to obey The Law; but the ones causing you trouble, teaching the Spirit of Error that The Law was abolished, would come into covenant with Yahusha, and not bring you back again to be entangled with the yoke of bondage to sin and death.

I trust in you, in the Master, that you shall have no other mind. And he who is troubling you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.” ISR 98

The Master is Yahusha, so Paul Sides removed the word ‘Master’ to point to Yahuah, once again stealing reverence from the Son.

11 But though I still preach the transposition of circumcision, brothers, how is it that I am still being persecuted? My preaching Spiritual circumcision is the stumblingblock, because of the sacrifice of the Messiah… that they, who denied the the undeserved pardo found in The Yahushaic Covenant, want stopped!

And I, brothers, if I still proclaim circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling-block of the stake has been set aside” ISR 98

The Apostle Paul is only talking about physical circumcision, yet Paul Sides inserts his supposed Yahushaic Covenant into the verse.

12 Oh, that the ones causing you trouble, teaching against the undeserved pardon would circumcise their hearts not just their flesh.

O that those who disturb you would even cut themselves off!” ISR 98

The Apostle Paul is simply proclaiming that these deceivers should be stopped, yet Paul Sides insists on inserting the topic of circumcision of the heart into the verse.

John Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible for Galatians 5:21 says, These words are a solemn wish of the apostle’s with respect to the false teachers, or an imprecation of the judgment of God upon them; that they might be cut off out of the land of the living by the immediate hand of God, that they might do no more mischief to the churches of Christ: this he said not out of hatred to their persons, but from a concern for the glory of God, and the good of his people.

I agree with the spirit of what the Apostle Paul is saying, in regard to Paul Sides.

Walking in The Spirit is loving obedience to The Law

13 For through The Yahushaic Covenant, you were called into liberty, to obey out of love not obligation to the death decrees. Brothers, your liberty is not to be used as instruments of carnality by abolishing His Law; but through the love of Yahuah, serve one another and bear one another’s burdens, encouraging one another in obedience to The Law.

For you, brothers, have been called to freedom, only do not use freedom as an occasion for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” ISR 98

Once again, there is no mention of a covenant in the Greek text. He used twice as many words to insert his false teachings. He is clearly adding to Scripture!

14 For truly, everything in the Law through the plan of Yahuah, has been accomplished through this: You will love your neighbor as yourself.

For the entire Torah is completed in one word, in this, “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.”” ISR 98

15 But if you bite and devour one another forcing others to obey your self-righteous standards, be careful that you are not consumed by one another as self-righteous judges are like lions seeking about for those to whom they can devour with their words.

And if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!” ISR 98

16 I say then: Walk in the Spiritual Law, and you will not perform the lust of the flesh; carnal passions.

And I say: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not accomplish the lust of the flesh.” ISR 98

17 For the lusts of the flesh which is enmity toward His Law, is contrary to The Spirit of loving obedience to the Law and the Spirit of loving obedience is against the lusts of the flesh; for the one opposes the other as those who are of the flesh cannot please Yahuah, they are not subject to The Law. So, be mindful of The Law, and do not do just anything you desire to do

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. And these are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you desire to do.” ISR 98

The Apostle Paul used the word “Spirit” to point to the Spirit of Yahuah; but Paul Sides changed the meaning, by making the word “Spirit” a quality, ‘The Spirit of loving obedience‘.

18 For if you are led by the Spirit of loving obedience, are you not under the Law of Love?

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under Torah.” ISR 98

Once again the Apostle Paul is clearly talking about being led by the Spirit of Yahuah, but Paul Sides changed it to a quality, having the Spirit of loving obedience.  He capitalized the word so that you don’t notice what he is doing, but since the word is describing a quality, it should not have been capitalized.

19 For the works of the flesh which are opposed to The Law are obvious, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness,

And the works of the flesh are well-known, which are these: adultery, whoring, uncleanness, indecency,

20 the worship of elohim/angles/zodiac signs, sorcery (abuse of the Zodiac), hatred (wrath), contentions, evil jealousies, rage (anger), selfish ambitions, dissensions; disagreements with quarreling, heresies; sects or factions of division,

idolatry, drug sorcery, hatred, quarrels, jealousies, fits of rage, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions,” ISR 98

21 Envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries (wild out of control parties), and the like; of which I warn you beforehand, just as I did in times past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of Yahuah.

envy, murders, drunkenness, wild parties, and the like – of which I forewarn you, even as I also said before, that those who practise such as these shall not inherit the reign of Elohim.

It’s odd that Rav Sha’ul consistently uses Yahuah in place of the name Elohim.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering; patience, kindness, righteousness in keeping of The Law, The Faith in the promises contained in The Law;

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustworthiness,” ISR 98

23 Meekness; gentleness, humility, temperance; self-control–such things are not against any human or Divine Law but are manifested in those who keep The Law of Yahuah.

gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no Torah.” ISR 98

24 And those who are the Messiah’s have sacrificed the flesh (symbolized by physical circumcision); and the carnal mind; as we renewed our minds daily demonstrating Spiritual Circumcision. We put off the flesh with its passions and lusts on a daily basis.

And those who are of Messiah have impaled the flesh with its passions and the desires.” ISR 98

The Apostle Paul is talking about killing the fleshly desires, but Paul Sides changed the meaning to proclaim that it is talking physical circumcision.

25 If we live in the Spirit of Yahuah within The Yahushaic Covenant, let us also walk in the Spirit of loving obedience to The Law.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” ISR 98

The Apostle Paul is simply commanding us to walk in the Spirit of Yahuah, yet Paul Sides inserts his false Yahushaic Covenant.

26 Let us not become full of empty pride and ambition as the Pharisees have, For the praise or esteem of men, not challenging nor defying one another, not being jealous of one another.

Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” ISR 98

The irony!  Rav Sha’ul proclaims that his version of Galatians is the proper one, adding many words to what the Apostle Paul wrote.

A word-for-word translation gives you what the Apostle Paul proclaimed, so Paul Sides is effectively telling you that his version is what the Apostle Paul should have written.

That just smacks of being conceited.
